First week of the winter quarter and my calendar is scary.
5:00-7:30, Hit the snooze button in my one luxury of the day. Determined to get up earlier tomorrow to make time for zazen.
8:00, Attempt to pick up shoes from repair shop - after one quarter of recruiting, they all needed new rubber heels. Sign on the door says unexpectedly closed for the day. I'll think about what on earth to wear on my feet tonight at a later date. Hour.
9:00, Met Random Walk team at Kovler for a pre-interview breakfast. Great getting to know such a neat group of people a bit more.
9:45-10:15, Team interview to be Random Walk trip leaders over the coming summer. Twenty trips, 45 teams applied. Good luck to us!
10:15-11:50, Curled up on the couch by the fire in the quiet study room and attempted to get through reading for marketing strat. Spent 10 minutes contemplating how to answer "What makes me unique and why would that make me a good LEAD facil?" for the fast approaching 4 minute presentation and interview.
11:50-12:00, Ducked into the student Women's Reception for lunch. All vegetarian sandwiches were gone; scraped out the bottom of the bowl for a cup of tomato bisque. Yay food! Chatted with a table of ladies, met two new first year gals, then headed out.
12:00-12:50, Attempted LEAD interview prep in the Winter Garden - never a good place to focus. Ran through one attempt with a friend then ended up chatting about wInterview. Seem to have finally accepted with good humour my likely public humiliation serving as the public mock interview for consulting. Told a few stories to work myself into LEAD interview mode, and then...
12:55-1:30, LEAD interview! The coaches made the interview very informal, friendly, relaxed. Would love to be a LEAD facil; would also love to use the two class spots for other interesting classes I'd like to take at Booth. Whatever happens, whichever way it goes, may it go that way. But it will be interesting to find out if I made it through or not next week! (If not at least I'll get to practice with accepting my first ding of the interview season.)
1:30-4:30, Marketing Strategy with Sanjay Dhar. Best. Class. Ever. VERY excited about the coming quarter - forget the foundations I took last quarter, THIS is why I came to business school.
4:30-5:00, Quick run to bookstore to pick up course pack for Technology Strategy, which starts tomorrow. One case to prep before then... yikes!!!
5:00-6:00, Get back to the loop (very grateful to classmate who gave me a ride!), change clothes, return to semi-major problem of ALL heels being stuck at repair shop, refuel with some leftover Indian food (still haven't made it to the store since), check email, ignore call from sister, note everything still left to do tonight before sleep, write blog post. C'mon, a girl needs a break some time!
6:00-8:00, Invite only reception with PwC/Diamond.
7:30-9:30, Invite only reception with Accenture.
(Also happening tonight but not on my dance card - invite only dinner/reception/events with LEK, Deloitte and BCG.)
9:30+, First TNDC of the year!!!
Also on the agenda for tonight:
-read/prep case for first Tech Strat class manana
-write six cover letters, complete & submit matching applications
-prep one more case before tomorrow's case workshop?
Tomorrow:
7:45-1:30, Case Prep Event (downtown)
1:30-4:30, Tech Strat (Hyde Park)
4:30-6:30, Case prep with 1st year(hmmm, forgot about that)
8:00-9:00, Case prep with very very generous 2nd yr
Saturday:
wInterview!!! Day-long interview prep event. Potential public humiliation in doing 30 minute fit/case interview in front of 65+ of my classmates followed by 30 minutes of helpful but possibly slightly painful group evaluation of my performance. Oddly enough, looking forward to it with good humour. Finally. Should really find some time between now and then to plot out answers to fit questions. Note to self: add that to list for tonight. Looks like no TNDC. :(
5:57, realize that 6:00 is in 3 minutes, I'm still not changed and I still need to figure out what the heck to do about my feet. Time to go!!!!!!!!
